Mario Monicelli: master of the Italian Comedy

Mario Monicelli was one of the greatest post-war Italian cinema. On Monday night he killed himself by jumping out of a hospital window, where he was treated for prostate cancer.
He was 95!!! The father of the Italian comedy, the director of many important film such as "Amici Miei", "I Soliti Ignoti" and "Il Marchese del Grillo" .


He launched the careers of big Italian actors such as Marcello Mastroianni, Vittorio Gassman and Claudia Cardinale.
He lived in the Rione Monti, in Via dei Serpenti, in Rome, where he was loved and well known by everyone.

We won't forget you...I remember seeing many of his films as a kid sitting down on the couch with my parents...what a wonderful time!!!
